Our software ships.

Vikan Ventures designs and builds mobile apps and web software for founders and growing teams. Sturdy engineering, plain communication, and products that ship.

What we build

Three crafts, one shipyard.

Each line of work is marked with a rune from the Elder Futhark, the alphabet carved across Scandinavia from the 2nd to the 8th century. We picked each one for what it meant to the people who carved it.

How we work

Every project is a voyage in four legs.

You always know where the ship is. Each leg ends with something you can see, tap, or test, and a clear decision about the next one.

  1. Chart the course

We learn your goals, users, and constraints, then agree on scope, timeline, and budget in writing.

  2. Lay the keel

Architecture and a clickable prototype come first, so the foundation is right before the hull goes on.

  3. Build and launch

Weekly builds you can try on your own phone, then a careful release to the stores and the web.

  4. Keep her seaworthy

Monitoring, updates for new OS versions, and new features as your users ask for them.

Vikan
vík
Old Norse: a bay or inlet, a sheltered place to beach a ship
-an
Norwegian dialect ending: the bay
The name

Named for the bay.

Vikan comes from the Old Norse word vík. Along the Norwegian coast it names the places where the shore curves in and the water goes calm.

A vík was where ships were built, repaired, and sent out again. That's the kind of company we want to be: a safe harbor where good work gets made, and a place you can return to.

Have an idea that needs a ship?

Tell us what you're building, who it's for, and when you'd like it in people's hands. We reply within two business days.
